How much of what you’re carrying mentally (and energetically) is yours to carry?

Sometimes, we find ourselves carrying emotional burdens that feel heavier than we can explain.
We might struggle with feelings of fear, loss, or anxiety that don’t seem to fit with our present reality. These emotions can be rooted in experiences that we never fully processed—experiences that are not just our own, but passed down from those who came before us.
Generational trauma is very real.
It’s the idea that unresolved pain, old fears, and unhealed wounds from previous generations can be subconsciously carried forward, shaping how we respond to life today. Without even knowing it, we might be carrying the weight of others’ pain—fear of abandonment, distrust, or a deep sense of loss—that’s been passed down, sometimes over many years.
The truth is, some of the emotions and fears we carry may not even be ours to carry.
They may be echoes of things we never lived through but still feel, as if we’re subconsciously replaying the trauma of past generations.
If something feels off or you’re struggling with emotions that don’t seem to make sense, it’s important to stop and reflect.
Don’t be afraid to reach out to someone—whether it’s a friend, therapist, or trusted confidant.
You don’t have to carry everything on your own, and understanding where your pain comes from is a powerful step toward healing.
How much of what you’re carrying is really yours to carry?
What might you be ready to release?
